After a conversation with a good friend. Here are a some things we both agree upon. At some point in time our law abiding lives crossed over into felonious conduct. Now it wasn’t because of any actions on our part. It was the constant erosion of our rights as citizens, being eaten away by legislators who were elected to do the people’s bidding, but once they got into the job, decided they are the masters who can enslave the people by their dictates and laws. Both of us agree at this point in time, we, being new minted felons are ungovernable. When a government, has to prominently announce citizens punishments as part of their proposed legislation, that is not serving the people. It is forging chains on the mind, hearts and lives of the citizens who elected the legislators.
We have reached a point in our history where punishment and control are more important than the well being of citizens. Where threats are written down and warnings made if the citizens do not follow the dictates of the bills being introduced. I think it maybe a good litmus test for a Bill, would be if a threat of imprisonment or fine or both, is required to have people follow that law, that law is about “ CONTROL “ not safety.
When we have reached the point in history where legislators have to keep reintroducing bills with the same threatening language of imprisonment and fines and a vast majority of the targeted populace has already decided they will not comply with the bills or the threats. We are at a tipping point. What also stands between these legislators and their dreams of conquest and control is a document called the Bill of Rights, a peculiar document that spells out in plain words the rights the “ people “ have.
So during the conversation it was made clear, we will not comply, and really don’t care what threats or punishments the legislators try to impose on us as law abiding citizens. Once you turn us into felons we will care even less. Threats and punishment does not bring about cooperation, if anything it brings about Resistance. I won’t put a RESIST bumper sticker on my car, I will just resist.
We also have to live under the time limit tyranny of the Democrat Party. They can front load any gun control hearing with the Attorney General, the governor of Oregon. Gun grabbing Sheriffs from Multnomah County, the Portland Police chief, all calling for stripping away the gun owners rights to own firearms. These people get 10-15 minutes to testify, while the regular citizens get 2 or 3 minutes to testify on why their rights are sacrosanct and not to be legislated away. The Democrats make it clear in these public testimony sessions that most gun owners are treated as rubes and boobs unfit to discuss their own rights. And they treat them as second class citizens.
Historically these actions you are contemplating are ineffective at best and at worst, extremely dangerous. Stephen Halbrook In his book GUN CONTROL IN NAZI OCCUPIED FRANCE makes this point succinctly on page 203 it reads in part:
“ There were three million hunting guns in France in 1939, according to Saint-Hubert-Club de France, a hunting association. After the Nazi takeover and occupation in 1940-44, some 715,000 were surrendered by their owners in the occupied zone. In the zone that was not occupied until 1942, 120,000 guns were turned into French authorities. The hunting guns not surrendered were, if not lost or stolen, hidden by their owners and in some cases used by the Resistance. That means only 835,000 of three million hunting guns, less than one third, were turned in by French citizens threatened with the death penalty for not doing so. This is an incredible testimony to the inefficacy of gun control in extreme circumstances.”
To be absolutely clear, gun control legislation does not work, even under threat of death. Less than a third (835,000) of the guns were turned in, the rest (2,165,000) disappeared, hidden and ready for use if necessary. All this legislative action in Washington on guns only results in hidden guns and armed resistance to gun control dictates. History is quite clear about these facts. Some gun owners will comply, but most will not.
I WILL NOT !!!
